The UK’s Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA), which supports improvement and innovation in Local Government, has named Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council (TMBC) in the North West of England as the winner of a national competition – the prestigious Local Innovation Award – for “building economic resilience”.

The national award has been granted in recognition for TMBC’s efforts to help the local community, safeguard local jobs and support businesses through the current recession. The Award has enabled the Council to demonstrate how it has developed skills and employment opportunities as well as creating the Tameside Business Family to support local enterprise.

TMBC will now be sharing its ideas to help lead improvement across the country.
